General

HUBBERT is an electrically height-adjustable lift bed system for campers, panel vans, living cabins and special vehicle builds. The bed moves to the desired height at the touch of a button, remains stable in every position and can be leveled when needed.

HUBBERT is suitable for DIYers, professional converters and anyone who wants to use space in a camper or cabin more flexibly without converting the bed every day.

Yes. The system is designed so that DIYers can install it themselves with the online instructions. We also clarify the key dimensions with you before production.

HUBBERT combines electric height adjustment, fully automatic leveling, stable guidance, self-locking trapezoidal spindles, synchronized movement and flexible installation. This means the system can be used not only at the top or bottom, but also remains stable at intermediate heights.

Vehicles & Variants

We check this together based on the vehicle model, interior height, desired bed position and conversion concept. Suitable variants are available for many common panel vans.

Suitable variants are available for Fiat Ducato and its sister models, VW Crafter / MAN TGE, Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit and Renault Master. Special solutions can also be coordinated.

Yes. HUBBERT is also suitable for living cabins, GFK cabins, special bodies and expedition vehicles. For these builds, the dimensions and mounting situation are coordinated individually.

In theory, yes. However, the effort is usually high and should be carried out by a specialist workshop. Typical challenges include routing cables, finding suitable mounting points and existing components such as fresh water tanks in the installation area.

We clarify the suitable motor position with you during consultation. It depends on the vehicle, available space, bed position and conversion layout.

For the Mercedes Sprinter, motor bottom is usually recommended because the body tapers strongly toward the top. This often makes the lower motor position the cleaner solution.

Yes. Special solutions are possible. We check the dimensions and installation situation with you and clarify whether the standard CAD data fits or whether an individual adjustment is needed.

Yes, that is possible. The main point is to check where suitable mounting points are available, especially in relation to the sliding door.

Yes. We have already implemented HUBBERT as a flexible transport platform. The E-Version is especially well suited for this use case.

Yes, that is possible. In this case, a transformer is used for the power supply.

Yes. For this, two separate HUBBERT systems are currently required. They are installed parallel to each other with an offset.

Technology & Operation

HUBBERT works with stepper motors, self-locking trapezoidal spindles, four guide rods and two crossbars. The system runs fully synchronized and is controlled by our control unit.

HUBBERT is operated via a modern touch display. Saved heights, leveling and comfort functions can be selected directly from the display.

You can save four programmable heights. Typical positions are sleeping, sitting, storage and travel position.

The touch display includes functions such as dark mode, reading mode, PIN assignment, language selection, adjustable display time, speed and motor current settings as well as diagnostics.

The home position is the reference point for the system. It is detected via optical limit switches and used as the basis for reproducible movements.

Self-locking trapezoidal spindles keep the bed securely in position. This keeps the bed stable in every height without a separate lock.

Yes. The sensitivity of collision control can be adjusted and, if required, disabled.

Reading mode levels the bed and raises the previously defined head area in steps from 1 to 5.

There is a default PIN that always works.

The system can be set to German, English, French and Italian.

Reducing the speed can increase the available motor force.

The motor current can be adjusted so the motors can run more quietly and be tuned to the application.

Yes. This is possible. The rotation direction of the corresponding motors only has to be adjusted.

No. The default position, meaning the limit switch position, can also be at the bottom so the bed normally stays low and is raised only when needed.

No. Typically, the bed is switched on at the start of a trip, moved to the home position once and switched off again at the end of the trip.

No. The leveling sensor can also be installed on the vehicle.

Yes. The display-on time can be configured in the setup.

Motor 1 is at the front left on the driver’s side. The numbering continues clockwise.

Yes. Touching the touch display while the bed is moving stops it immediately. This acts as an emergency stop function.

Set Home is used if the normal home position cannot be reached, for example because a large pillow is in the way. The current position then becomes the new reference point, so care must be taken that the bed does not travel too far down.

With stepper motors with 200 steps and a 4 mm spindle pitch, the theoretical positioning precision is around 0.02 mm.

The system can display or indicate limit switch states, undervoltage, voltage, short circuits, motor states, temperature and leveling sensor information.

Leveling

Yes. HUBBERT can align the bed so that you can sleep level even when the vehicle is parked slightly unevenly.

No. The vehicle does not have to be perfectly level. HUBBERT levels the bed itself within the available adjustment range.

Length compensation happens in two directions: the crossbars slide into each other, and the bed can move on the crossbars through cut-outs in the bed frame.

No. Because of the structural degrees of freedom and length compensation, the system cannot jam while leveling.

In many situations, yes. HUBBERT can compensate noticeably more than typical leveling wedges, depending on how much space is available above the bed.

This depends on the available space above the bed, but it is significantly more than can usually be compensated with wedges, roughly comparable to about three to four wedges.

Yes. The bed is brought once into the desired sleeping position and this position is saved during calibration.

No. The bed moves to the calibrated position. If you prefer sleeping with your head slightly raised, this can also be saved.

Yes. In this case, the bed can remain in the lower position, for example above a garage, and still be used for leveling.

Installation & Scope of Delivery

The scope of delivery includes all components of the HUBBERT system: motors, control unit, touch display, guide rods, crossbars, brackets, cables and the online instructions via link/QR code.

No. The bed frame, bed board or slatted frame and mattress are not included.

HUBBERT is mounted using four guide rods and two crossbars. The exact mounting points are coordinated to suit the vehicle and conversion.

The size and installation position are highly flexible and are planned according to vehicle, interior height, desired bed position and conversion concept.

Yes. HUBBERT is designed so that DIYers can install it themselves with the online instructions.

Yes. CAD data is available for all models. The customer checks whether the dimensions fit the vehicle or whether a special solution is needed.

The dimensions do not have to be exact to the millimetre. The upper bracket has around 18 cm of adjustment range, and the lower foot can be shortened by around 15 cm or extended by around 5 cm.

Yes. The guide rods can be modified so they can also be loaded in tension for a bed extension.

No. You can use a slatted frame or a disc spring system depending on your needs.

The limit switch position can be adjusted using the screw on the limit switch: loosen it a quarter turn, move the switch and tighten it again.

For the partially integrated variant, the motor is recessed by about 15 mm.

The trapezoidal spindles are 1.98 m long. After deducting the required mechanical length, the possible travel is about 1.85 m.

No. HUBBERT works with low voltage and the instructions guide you step by step through connecting the cables.

Safety, Load Capacity & Service

The standard version has a total lifting force of around 100 kg. The E-Version reaches around 250 kg lifting force. The static load capacity of the system is around 600 kg.

The E-Version is the optional version with increased lifting force, suitable for heavier applications and also for lifting upward with a person on the bed.

HUBBERT works with 12 V to 60 V.

Yes. The self-locking trapezoidal spindles and stable mechanical guidance keep the bed safely in position.

In an emergency, the system can be powered by a simple battery pack with adapter. If necessary, the trapezoidal spindles can also be turned by hand.

The board is modular. Drivers and Teensy can be replaced easily if required. LEDs help with diagnostics such as undervoltage or short circuits.

After the dimensions have been clarified, delivery time is usually four to six weeks from order.

Prices for panel van variants are listed on the variants page. Cabin versions are quoted on request.

No. The microcontroller detects lost steps and stops immediately. Stepper motors are also robust in this respect.

No. The new version is short-circuit-proof and reverse-polarity protected at all external connections.

The power supply is designed for 10 A. For normal cable lengths, 2.5 mm² is sufficient.

Yes. HUBBERT can be shipped.

Yes. HUBBERT can be viewed by appointment in our showroom.

We recommend checking the trapezoidal spindles every six months and greasing them if required.

Yes. Our standard RAL colour is 7016 anthracite grey fine texture, but other RAL colours are available on request.

Yes. We support you by phone, video call or directly during the project if questions come up.

The standard version can still move with one person, but it is not designed for this purpose. The E-Version is made for this and includes a switch on the bed for up, down and leveling.

Yes. HUBBERT is suitable for off-road use. Additional stoppers can be installed for very demanding off-road applications.
